About TrekFeet! December 10, 2006
Well hello there -
For the poor fools who stumbled upon this site without a personal obligation to me, let’s go back to the start.
TrekFeet (the site formerly known as “The Blog I Started to Avoid Unsubscribe Responses to My Mass Emails” http://blogs.bootsnall.com/Salmagundi/) rambled into creation in the late fall of 2005 as I (Erica) was hastily preparing for a six month round the world trip. From my flush-cheeked departure in December to my shell-shocked return in June, I chronicled the adventures, the characters, the poor decisions and never ending sanctimonious epiphanies I encountered on the road. The original posts follow a completely nonsensical path from Paris down through Spain and across the Straits of Gibraltar into Morocco; through West Africa and East Africa and up into the Middle East for a spell; over through Hong Kong, China and Tibet and finally winding down through South East Asia.
Phew.
Thanks to spotty computer access (armed thugs tend to move to the front of the internet queue in the Congo) and my laziness (I’m not going to lie to you; given the choice between street food and providing succinct blog updates, I’m going to go with experimental eating every time) the old blog read like a trippy voyage across an international time space continuum.
Suffice it to say we all had fun.
Since I’ve been home, the blog has featured everything from miscellaneous and long winded musings on life to recounts of shorter but much loved journeys through Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Borneo, Vietnam, Cambodia and Guatemala.
From here on out, while I’m at home working and rebuilding my reputation as a responsible adult, the blog is going to feature those stories I never got around to writing or the smaller, more detailed accounts of moments that were lost in the overall shuffle. Think of it as “BONUS EXTRA FOOTAGE RECOVERED FROM THE CUTTING ROOM FLOOR!” You know, the same alluring reason you were compelled to buy your very own copy of Napoleon Dynamite and Big Momma’s House 2.
Anyway, welcome to my blog. May it tide us both over until we’re off to see the world again.
